My First Steps: Signing Up, Lacing Up, and Showing Up

If you told me a year ago I’d be training for the Falmouth Road Race, I probably would’ve laughed. But here I am—registered, inspired, and officially in motion.

I signed up to run for a cause that means a lot to me: Big Nick’s Ride for the Fallen, a local charity with a powerful mission. It’s not just a race anymore—it’s a purpose.

And since every journey starts with a good pair of shoes, I made my way to The Run House on Main Street in Falmouth. Let me just say—what an experience. They didn’t just hand me shoes; they watched my stride, answered every question, and made me feel like a runner before I even hit the pavement. I walked out of there feeling like I took the first real step.

Before I left, I agreed (a little nervously) to join their Saturday morning run club. Me. A run club. I won’t lie, I’m a little intimidated—but also super excited. I’ve always believed in showing up, even if you’re shaking in your sneakers—and that’s exactly what I’m doing.

This is the beginning of The Running Shift. A shift in lifestyle. A shift in mindset. A shift toward strength I’m still discovering.

One step at a time. One shift at a time. Thanks for being here.
